About Us

The Mar Thoma Congregation Scotland is an Ecumenical Christian fellowship in Scotland under the Mar Thoma Syrian Church and its North American and Europe Diocese. The Holy Communion is held once in a month and the service is in Malayalam and follows the Mar Thoma Church liturgy. A cottage prayer meeting is held once in a month at the residence of the members.

AUGUST 2014

Family Conference UK

The 32nd Mar Thoma Family Conference held from 29 to 31Aug 2014 at Yarnfield Park Training & Conference Centre, Stone, Staffordshire. The aim of this years conference is to reflect on the challenges faced by our families in various spheres of their daily life and how to nurture their faith and impart the same to the next generation. “Christian Family Life in a Migrated Context”.

The main speakers this year were H.G. Dr. Yuhanon Mor Meletius, Metropolitan Diocese of Thrissur Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and H.E. Ranjan Mathai, High Commissioner of India. The Tabore Mar Thoma Church, Manchester (UK) hosted this year's conference and around 600 delegated attented the three day event.

 

APRIL 2014

Good Friday Service

We were blessed to have our Diocesean Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa in Edinburgh for our Good Friday Service. The service was held at Danderhall Miners Club Hall on Friday April 18th 2014, 10 am to 2pm. We had members from other congregations attending this special service. Special thanks to all who made this a blessed event.

 

Farewell to Rev Sam John and AGM

Our Achen Rev Sam John is leaving to Kerala after three years blessed service in the UK. We will be having a meeting after April 13th Sunday service to thank his service and Kochamma will be joining us in this meeting. We will be also holding our annual general body meeting after the service to approve the report and accounts for the financial year 2013-14. All members are requested to attend with prayers. Rev Paul Singh will be blessing the occasion.

 

MArch 2014

Tenth aniversary of our Congregation

We celebrated the tenth aniversary of our Congregation on Sunday 9th March 2014 after the holy communion service. Rev Sam John and Rev Paul Singh blessed the occasion and remembered the service rendered by all in the past for the growth of the Congregation. The Congregation started as a small prayer group in 2003 under the leadership of Rev Sham P Thomas, who was then doing his doctoral studies at the Edinburgh University.

Church picnic

Our Church picnic for 2013 was at the Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy on August 11th Sunday .It was a day for all to enjoy with great barbecue and weather. Thanks to all who contributed for the success of the event.

OCTOBER 2014

Holy communion service

Our next service will be on Sunday 12th October 3pm at the Old Saint Paul's Church, Edinburgh. Our vicar Rev. Roney Cherian will lead the Holy Communion Service. There will be Sunday school and tea after the service at the church hall.
