About Us

The Mar Thoma Congregation Scotland is an Ecumenical Christian fellowship in Scotland under the Mar Thoma Syrian Church and its North American and Europe Diocese. The Holy Communion is held once in a month and the service is in Malayalam and English and follows the Mar Thoma Church liturgy. A cottage prayer meeting is held once in a month at the residence of the members.

July 2010

Mission Fund Sunday

The Diocese celebrated Sunday, June 20, 2010 as the Suvishesha Nidhi Sunday (Mission Fund Sunday). The Mission Fund provides all the financial resources necessary to conduct the mission programs and activities of the Diocese. Mexico Mission, Native America Mission, India Mission and the Neighbourhood Mission are the key programmes initiated by our Diocese. As we didn't had any service on the proposed Sunday, please contribute and prayerfully support the mission activities when coming for the next service.

28th Mar Thoma Family Conference - UK and Europe 2010

The Mar Thoma Family Conference will be held from August 13-15 at the High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Rejoice and be glad' and will be hosted by the St. James Mar Thoma Church, U.K.

April 2010

Annual General Body Meeting - May 2010

The Annual General Body will meet on Sunday 9th May 2010 immediately after the Holy Communion Service with Rev. Varghese Mathew on the Chair. All Members are requested to participate. Please contact Achen or Secretary for more details.

December 2009

Christmas Carol 2009

Our Christmas Carol will be held on Sunday, 13th December right after the Holy Communion Service. We welcome your prescence along with your family and friends for this service. Please contact the Secretary, if you wish to have more information regarding the programme. The house to house carol singing will be on 18 - 22 December. All members will be contacted prior to the visit.

October 2009

October Service and Harvest Festival

Our October Service was held on 11th Sunday 4pm and the Holy Communion Service was lead by our new Vicar Rev. Varghese Mathew. The service was followed by the Harvest Festival which was a wonderful occasion to remember the blessings we received in the past.

September 2009

September Service

Our September service was lead by Rev. P N Alexander, who is one of the senior most Achen of our Church. The service was dedicated to the Mar Thoma Sevika Sanghom and we were blessed with his wonderful message.

August 2009

Church Picnic 2009

We, as the Church, visited the Blair Drummond Safari Park, Stirling on the 22nd August 2009. We were blessed to be there on one of the warmest and best days of the year and this was a wonderful day for everyone to enjoy together and to know each other. We arranged a barbeque in the park and the kids absolutely enjoyed the fun rides and the animals. We hope to arrange more events like this in the future.

Cottage Prayer Fellowship

Our next Cottage prayer will be on Saturday 24th July 4pm, at the residence of Mr Shiji P Varghese and Mrs Bindu Philip, 24-14 Springfield Street, Edinburgh EH6 5DE. The contact number for Shiji is 07737100979.

August 2010

Church Picnic 2010

We are planning to have our Church picnic on Saturday 7th August 2010. The venue is Beecraigs Country Park, Linlithgow, West Lothian EH49 6PL. We will be joined by members from Aberdeen Congregation and our Achen and family. Please join for a day of fun with your family and friends. A small contribution of £15.00 per person is to be paid to meet the catering expenses. Children below the age of 10 eat free. Those interested in joining the picnic may contact Saji to register their names and paying the contribution in advance. Contact number of Saji is 07737605601. It is proposed to give the names and pay the contribution by Sunday 01 August to finalise catering needs.

Holy Communion Service

Our next Holy Communion Service will be on Sunday, 8th August 2010, 3.00pm, at Old Saint Paul's Church, 39 Jeffery Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1DH and the Holy Communion Service will be lead by Rev. Varghese Mathew. The Sunday School will start by 2.30pm.

September 2010

Thirumeni's visit

Our Diocesan Thirumeni The Rt. Rev. Dr Geevarghese Mar Theodosius is tentatively planning to visit our congregation on Sunday 12 September and celebrate Holy Communion for us. The details of the service will be updated once confirmed.
